Waxing
Waxing isn't just a method of hair removal you can get once in a while. This is a common misconception. It can actually be your main method of hair removal.
Out of all the hair removal methods we look at on this site, waxing is the one which leaves you skin feeling the absolute best. This is because it actually removes layers of skin. Yes this is a bit painful but most of the skin cells removed are dead anyway. You're kind of getting a two for one - hair removal and a type of exfoliation!
Another good reason to wax is because it can (although studies aren't conclusive) reduce the rate at which your hair grows.
This is due to the weakening effect it has on the hair follicle. There is quite a bit of trauma involved in plucking hair out, and if this trauma damages the follicle it's likely to produce hair which is finer and lighter.
The process will at least mean your hair takes longer to regrow - it has to produce a new hair and begin growing under the skin before it's even visible. So you won't need to remove hair for months!
Unfortunately waxing comes with two major disadvantages:
Waxing can hurt quite a bit when you're not used to it. But the more treatments you get, the more bearable the pain is. As for the mess, this depends what sort of waxing you're getting done. You may use hot wax (very messy!) or waxing strips (much cleaner).
But overall if we're just looking at results, waxing is one of the best treatments. The fact that it lasts for ages and can reduce your hair growth is a bonus. I'm actually surprised more people don't use waxing as their primary hair removal method!
