Epilation
Epilation is very similar to waxing - our last covered hair removal method. It uses the same principle of plucking hair to remove it. Therefore hair growth is much slower. However it is done much faster through a device which can remove the hair much faster than waxing.
It uses a mechanical device called an epilator. An epilator works by quickly grasping several hairs at once and removing them. The devices are similar to a shaver, but work via plucking not cutting.
This sounds great doesn't it? Something as fast as shaving which is also long lasting.
Unfortunately I think epilation is one of the most painful hair removal methods ever. And I should know; I've tried a few! With waxing the pain comes all in once go. So you can deal with it. But with epilation the pain is constant. You're just thinking "please make it stop!" while you're getting it. However you DO get used to it after some time. The pain become much more bearable.
If you do get used to it (or use numbing creams) then it's a great hair removal method. You don't need to spend much time at all removing hair. It can save you a ton of time.
Another way the process differs from shaving is the way it doesn't remove the top layer of skin. Now this sounds like a good thing, but removing the top layer of skin is good - the skin cells are dead. Therefore after a wax the skin feels very soft and smooth. Epilation doesn't do this.
In conclusion - a great method if you can take the pain.
